For everything to be set in our time line would flow in one direction. What if time was going in a loop and all events had already happened and that everything was going around and around in a big loop. All the events we have done or are going to do have already happened. Maybe the universe has already ended and the big bang was the end of the universe not the start. We would be unaware of anything and believe we are in control only to be living the path we were meant to do. This is very similar to fatalism in that we are unable to change anything. If everything is just following out the path in which it is set we might not be able to do anything about it.
But what if it changes slightly? What if everything is set and it is following a loop in which will lead to the end of the universe, but is allowing some change a long the away. An example would be a route to work, one can go down street A that links to street C to get to work or go down street B which also leads to street C. If it does allow some very little changes what could one do about it? If you feel your life is following a set route and that everything you do seems the same, you could change what you do with your day to day life. But of course one does not know whether or not the changes are that of what is free will or that of what was meant to happen.
If time is meant to just restart at the end of time, what if it doesn’t loop but rather rewind and then play again. This would see time running backwards. During backwards running time no one could remember anything as it would be replayed and removed as it is happening. As memory is seen to work by only forward running time maybe time running backwards is a way to remove those memories. Which could be why no one can remember it?
What about Déjà vu? If everyone is living the live they lived before then maybe some of it could be remembered. This could explain Déjà vu and may also explain memories of past lives. Whether time is looping or rewinding and starting again. It may be impossible to know this. If someone could remember their whole live this could lead to them cheating death, accidents etc. Next time you get déjà vu try to think long and hard have I been here before?
